Did you know that even Miami girls can suffer from dry, dull winter skin? It’s true! Despite the balmy 70 degree temperatures we experience from December through mid-March, the lower levels of humidity make my skin go on the fritz. (Not to mention masking-up… wearing face masks has contributed to not only dryness, but also dreaded maskne.)
To compensate for the lack of moisture, I recently began incorporating more nourishing products into my skincare routine that offer richer hydration and don’t strip the natural oils from my skin. Here are some of my tried & true, and newer favorites from ELEMIS that are currently on heavy rotation in my routine.

Where it all starts. Oil cleansers and cleansing balms have become more commonplace over the past couple of years thanks in part to the popularity of K-beauty, which focuses on the overall health and hydration of skin (and consists of an intense 10-step skincare routine.) The K-beauty craze introduced the western world to the concept of double cleansing, starting with an oil or balm versus a foaming cleanser.
When it comes to the holy grail of cleansing balms, most beauty junkies – myself included – would agree that the honor goes to ELEMIS Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm. (There’s a reason it’s the brand’s number one bestselling cleanser.) The rich balm is made with English Rose Oleo Extract which is both soothing and deliciously fragrant, but gentle enough for sensitive skin. Once applied to the skin, it melts down into a cleansing oil to gently remove makeup and impurities without overdying the skin. I asked my trusted dermatologist to share her thoughts on the benefits of oil cleansers, and here’s what she had to say –
“In skincare, oils are better at mixing with and removing makeup and oil (especially water proof makeup) versus water-based cleansers as like attracts like. Because of the texture and oil base, cleansing balms are especially good for people with dry/sensitive skin types as they tend to hydrate the skin more instead of stripping it.”

Not a fan of fragrant products? ELEMIS just launched a new stripped-down edition of the cult-favorite cleansing balm, Pro-Collagen Naked Cleansing Balm, which is fragrance-free and can be used safely around the eyes.
This alcohol-free refreshing & calming toner reminds me of the spa with its light fruity scent. I use this as my second step in my routine to make sure my skin is balanced after cleansing.
I love using this mist as a daily lightweight serum, or just to refresh my skin throughout the day – it also doubles as a makeup setting spray with the added benefit of calming organic rose hydrolat.
A facial oil is a must for me during the drier months, and ELEMIS rose facial oil is a go-to lightweight option. Formulated with English Rose Oleo Extract, Sweet Almond, Jojoba and Coconut oils, it’s quickly absorbed and gives an instant radiant glow to the skin. I use 3-4 drops for daytime, and go heavier in the evenings – like, oil slick heavy.
This gel cream eye mask is perfect to apply after long days in front of a screen or when you just can’t catch enough Zs. The rich gel texture sooths tired eyes on contact and plumps the delicate eye area while you sleep.
I’m new to this cult-favorite antiaging cream – but I can see the hype! This ultra-moisturizing gel-cream is formulated with marine plant actives to plump the skin and reduce the look of fine lines, and is lightweight enough to wear under makeup. The new SPF 30 version cuts down on one more skincare step.
